my attempt to create the best figma course ever made

That subject line sounds a bit grandiose right?

Perhaps.

But that's the goal.

I want to create the undisputed best course on the internet for the absolute beginner learning how to use Figma.

Fig. 1

From the very beginning of this project I wrote the tagline, "Learn Figma in one hour with twelve 5-minute videos."

I spent days on the lesson outline alone.

I meticulously wrote, edited, and revised each lesson script.

I painstakingly recorded the talking head videos with a teleprompter to make sure there were no ums, uhs, likes, and you knows.

I've been slowly recording myself using Figma over the top of the talking videos and matching the clicks within Figma to the timing of talking points.

This is an incredibly slow and laborious process. No wonder I've procrastinating this work for so long.

This can't have any fluff. No wasted space. It must be sharp. Precise.

As I've been tackling this absolute mountain of work. I've been reminding myself of the goal over and over.

Create the undisputed best course for Figma on the internet.

Oh, and make it free so that every single person can get their hands on it, so there's absolutely no barrier to entry.

Attention spans are getting shorter. The bar for quality is getting higher. The market for courses is getting more and more saturated.

This project is absolutely maxing out every skill I currently possess. It's exhausting, but rewarding.

Right now it's still a slog, but in the words of Davis Clarke, I'm locked the heck in to keep this struggle bus rolling. (IG reel link)

Here's a 3 minute clip from the "Getting Around" lesson to give you an idea of the format.

Below is a look at some of the behind the scenes work I've been doing to bring all the pieces to life.

It's so easy to sit behind your desk and battle your own thoughts of this sucks no one's going to like this why are you doing this, and one of the best ways to combat that is by sharing and getting feedback.

So that's what I'm doing!

Have a great weekend,
